My 3-Day Layover in Istanbul, Turkey — A Luxury Stopover I’ll Never Forget

If you’ve ever wondered whether a long layover can turn into a full luxury vacation, let my Istanbul experience be your sign to make it happen. During my summer travels of 2025, I was blessed with a complimentary three-night stay at the Conrad Istanbul Bosphorus, thanks to my business class ticket on Turkish Airlines—and this layover ended up being one of the most memorable parts of my entire trip.

The Conrad Istanbul is located in one of the city’s most upscale neighborhoods, and from the moment I arrived, the service exceeded every expectation. The staff surprised me with a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Room on the 15th floor, complete with sweeping city views and exclusive access to the Executive Lounge which offers complimentary cocktails, wine, and delicious small plates every evening. On my first night after relaxing in the executive lounge, I headed to Manzara Restaurant, located in the hotel, where I had dinner overlooking the pool and absorbing the vibrant energy of Istanbul at night.

My second day was filled with sightseeing and culture. I joined a guided tour that took me through some of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks—Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Basilica Cistern—each one rich with centuries of history and breathtaking architecture. For lunch, I stopped at the famous Seven Hills Rooftop Restaurant, known for its panoramic views of the Bosphorus and Old City. And of course, no trip to Istanbul is complete without experiencing a traditional Turkish bath, which left me completely refreshed and energized.

On the third day, I kicked things off with a rooftop photoshoot at The Rooftop Galata, capturing some of my favorite images from the trip. Afterward, I visited a Turkish pharmacy to stock up on skincare and haircare essentials—because if you know, you know. Turkish pharmacies are a goldmine for high-quality beauty products. That evening, I wrapped up my layover with a magical Bosphorus dinner cruise, soaking in sunset views, city lights, and the unforgettable atmosphere that makes Istanbul truly one of a kind.

Three days was just enough to fall in love with this vibrant city, but not nearly enough to experience everything Turkey has to offer. I’m already planning a return trip to explore places like Cappadocia, Pamukkale, and Antalya.
